Spontaneous access to teaching and learning material and information from any location at any time or place - learning is increasingly characterised by mobility. In addition to the laptop, small and micro mobile devices, such as the iPod by Apple, are playing an ever more important role. With LECTURNITY, you can distribute your content in MPEG-4 format for these types of terminal. However, when producing your content, you should be aware of certain demands brought about by the features of these terminals:

Slide design
Use a slide template that leaves as much free space as possible. Use an easily legible font, e.g. Arial. Do not use any very small fonts (not less than around 14 points). Use strong contrast (e.g. no dark grey text on a light grey background).

Video material

Due to the significantly smaller display compared with a normal PC monitor, the accompanying video is deliberately omitted during the conversion to MPEG-4 format. Additional videos or even screengrabbing recordings are displayed instead of the slides. You should therefore insert these at a place in your recording at which you do not refer to the content of the slides in your commentary.When using screengrabbing, do not set any capture areas too large so that the clip is still easily visible in the end format. Instead, create several individual clips or move the screengrabbing window during the recording accordingly.

Audio quality

Mobile learning content is often used in environments with a high noise level (train, tram, bus, etc.). Therefore, ensure that you provide the best sound quality possible. (Sufficiently high input level, as little background noise as possible).

File length

Mobile learning should communicate short and concise content, as it is often used in environments in which the learner is subject to a lot of stimulation and is therefore easily distracted.For this reason, you should limit yourself to the really relevant information or create several consecutive pieces of content that build on each other. This will allow the learner to optimise his use of the content and also keeps the file size manageable.
